It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Garden City & our friends at Love Letchworth have created a whole host of activities to take part in over the festive season. Take a look at the brochure below to find out more: On the 25th of November 2013, The World's End will be available on DVD, so what better time to listen to The Garbage POD's World's End Podcast Trilogy. Along side the podcasts is our dedicated World's End Website, which contains oodles of content about the filming of the movie, through the eyes of the people of Letchworth Garden City, where the majority of the movie was shot.

Thank You, to everyone who has praised our latest venture. I am of course talking about our "In Search Of The World's End" podcast trilogy. We have had lots of messages of support from listeners & people involved in the project. Also there is a couple of views of the Crowning Glory ale that was generously sent to me by the wonderful folks at Tring Brewery. If you have not heard the podcasts yet, here is a link: "In Search Of The World's End" Along side The podcasts is our World's End Website, which contains hundreds of photographs as well as interviews, information about the locations in the movie, videos, soundbites & newspaper articles. It's a work in progress so please bare with it, as it will evolve over time.
Well, as you can see, I'm now a published photographer, as printed in Issue 15 of All About Space Magazine. I didn't think it would be published as there is a lot of good Astro Photography out there, but it all goes to show that you can produce a fairly descent quality picture without a high end camera, lenses & a telescope (although I do want to get a telescope). For more about: All About Space & also it's sister publication All About History The Garbage POD has once again been mentioned in a recent episode of 1800 Online Extra. As you can hear, Alan Taylor-Shearer Kindly gave Episode 24 - Pressed Rat & Warthog a lovely plug his show.
To hear the full episode: 1800online EXTRA 19 Jul 2013 June is a time to reflect, well it has been for me this year, as it has been a milestone Birthday for me. On the 16th of June I turned 40 & made me think about all the things I have achieved over the years & which direction I want to head towards. As always I headed back to Aylesbury, to spend my Birthday with friends & family. It's always good to go back home although it's not the same place I left 6 years ago. Thanks to everyone who sent me cards, texts & social media messages, you are all stars. Whilst I was in Aylesbury I decided to test the zoom on my new camera & wondered whether I could capture Wendover Woods that I could see in the distance, from my bedroom window, when I was growing up. As you can see, when I zoomed in, an old building came into view & we were trying to work out what this building could be. We decided to venture out, in the same direction that I took the photo & find out what the building was. as we got nearer I realized that it was a building that I knew very well, but the photo was taken from the back building. The building was in fact The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, which was designed by Florence Nightingale 1832. Originally designed as an infirmary, it's usage change many times over the years. From 1948 until 1990 it was the towns maternity hospital,In fact I was born there (Hence why I know it very well). Now, it is a private spinal injury rehabilitation centre. Well The Letchworth Food & Garden Festival was a huge success & as you will have seen, on the Blog & TGP Xtra, due to our involvement in the festival,we were asked to promote the Fashion For Fundraising Fashion Show in aid of the Garden House Hospice right here in the Garden City. Which took place last Thursday (30/05/13). We have also gained a few listeners off the back of the festival too. This weekend is packed with events in The Garden City area, as it is the start of the Letchworth Festival 2013 so take a look at the highlighted link & see if any of the activities takes your fancy. The first main event of the calendar is Letchworth Street Fest so have a browse through the programme below & see what's on. This week also brings The Hitchin Beer & Cider Festival, which The Garbage POD, ATS Photography & Yvan Seth from North Herts CAMRA will be teaming up for.
We will be at the beer & cider festival on Saturday (08/06/13) so if you are are going, come & say Hi! |
