It's that time of year again & as a tradition on the The Garbage POD, we like to take part in the Global Celebration that is Yuri's Night, where the space community around the world celebrates human achievement in space.
This takes place on the 12th of April, the day that Yuri Gagarin became the first Human in orbit in 1961.
We at The Garbage POD try to create something different every year & so far we have managed this. In 2012 we played in highlights of a local Yuri's Night event that we attended for the 50th anniversary of Yuri's iconic flight. In 2013 we put out a call to the space community asking "what does Yuri's Night mean to you?" & we received some interesting feedback including audio from the hosts of NASA EDGE & Kate Arkless Gray (@SpaceKate).
This year, we are proud to announce that we will be working with The National Space Centre in Leicester (That's pronounced Lester, for our overseas friends).
The theme of of this years podcast is "A space Cadet's Guide To Space" & with the help of The National Space Centre's Space Communication & Education team, we hope to bring you an entertaining episode.
The Yuri's Night Podcast will be streamed on Shazizz & Awake internet radio networks at various times during Yuri's Night (April 12th, details of when will follow, when we know a bit more).
